Despite our progress, deforestation continues to shrink the world\u2019s tropical forests, biodiversity is being lost, species extinction is accelerating, and our oceans are littered with plastic.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
Since 1970, CO2 emissions have increased by about 90%, with emissions from fossil fuel combustion and industrial processes contributing about 78% of the total greenhouse gas emissions increase from 1970 to 2011.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
From an individual standpoint, it’s hard to know which major lifestyle changes can decrease your carbon footprint.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n At Dandelion, our mission is to make it easier and more affordable to heat and cool homes with renewable geothermal energy.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Currently, space heating, air conditioning, and water heating account for ~70% of energy use in home, according to the EIA.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Switching from an old oil furnace and AC to geothermal can cut a home\u2019s CO2 emissions by up to 80%.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n In fact, for many homeowners it\u2019s the single biggest thing they can do to reduce their Carbon Footprint.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Our customers are already making a difference.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n As of today, 151,100 tons of CO2 emissions will be offset by Dandelion systems over the next 25 years.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n That’s the weight of about 747 Boeing 747s, which is equivalent to taking 29,614 cars off the road, or the same amount of CO2 sequestered by 179,016 acres of forest.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Today is a day to reflect on how far we\u2019ve come with recognition of how far we have to go.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Our mission continues….Happy Earth Day ????<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n![\"Kathy](\"http:\/\/dandelionenergy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/DL_21_2_Kathy_twitter_quote-1.jpg\")
