It\u2019s a necessity.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recognizing that more efficient homes are good for people, communities, and the environment, the Department of Energy\u2019s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy launched its <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.energy.gov\/eere\/buildings\/zero-energy-ready-home-program\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Zero Energy Ready Home Program<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. This program certifies energy ready homes and provides tax incentives for high-performance homes that are \u201cso energy efficient that a renewable energy system could offset most or all of the home\u2019s annual energy use.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For homeowners retrofitting their existing homes and people in the market for new builds, attaining Zero Energy Read Home certification comes with <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.energy.gov\/eere\/buildings\/45l-tax-credits-zero-energy-ready-homes\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">tax credits that were extended by The Inflation Reduction Act of 2022<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The law amended Internal Revenue Code Section 45L, providing a tax credit of $5,000 for single-family homes and $1,000 &#8211; $5,000 for multi-family units certified to the DOE Zero Energy Ready Home program.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To achieve this certification, builders and buyers should look to electrify everything while turning increasingly affordable and capable solar power solutions to power an efficient, electric home.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Here is how geothermal energy and solar power work together to make homes as efficient as possible, helping homeowners lower costs, minimize environmental impact, and maximize financial incentives. <\/b><\/p>\n<h2>Geothermal Lowers Energy Consumption<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Home heating and cooling consume a lot of energy.
